The educational program «Psychology» is developed by the working group for the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education in accordance with the higher education standard for the specialty 053 «Psychology», approved by Order No. 565 of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, dated April 24, 2019.

The goal of the educational program is to equip higher education students with general and professional competencies in the specialty 053 Psychology. The program focuses on solving complex tasks in professional, research, and innovative activities within the field of psychology and related mental health professions. It aims to provide a scientific understanding of the nature of the psyche, the features of psychological development, personality formation, and the functioning of individuals with mental health disorders. Students are expected to develop the ability to apply advanced scientific and applied psychological knowledge and skills in their professional activities. They will master theoretical and practical skills in psychodiagnostics, counseling, and psychological intervention methods of varying intensity levels to work with diverse population groups.

The educational program emphasizes the study of scientific, applied, and practical psychology courses related to research-experimental, psychological counseling, psychotherapeutic, educational, and psychoprophylactic activities. It is conducted within an active research environment to train multidisciplinary psychology specialists capable of working in interdisciplinary settings, exploring, and analyzing issues of normal and pathological psychological development, psychological processes, patterns, factors, and mechanisms of mental activity disorders.

Significant transformational processes in Ukraine, driven by both the current crisis in the country and the rapid integration of Ukrainian education into the European educational and professional space, have highlighted the importance of developing a master’s level educational and professional program in psychology.

The reviewed educational and professional program «Psychology» serves as a regulatory document for the professional training of master’s students (second educational-scientific level of higher education) in the specialty 053 «Psychology» within the field of knowledge 05 “Social and Behavioral Sciences.” The program aims to develop theoretical and practical knowledge regarding the scientific understanding of the nature of the psyche and the patterns of functioning of mental phenomena in both normal and pathological conditions, along with the ability to apply this knowledge in future professional activities as a psychologist.

The educational program is designed for 1 year and 6 months of study, equivalent to 90 ECTS credits. It includes courses aimed at developing general, professional, research, and pedagogical competencies, as well as deepening knowledge in the specialty and acquiring specialized professional skills.

The program aligns with the current level of development in science and educational practices. It successfully integrates modern theoretical and practical knowledge related to human activity in today’s crisis conditions with relevant aspects of training highly skilled psychologists capable of addressing scientific and practical challenges. A distinct feature of the program is its close alignment with the training programs for mental health professionals at leading universities in the European Union.

A unique aspect of the program is its integrated practical base in European higher education institutions and specialized clinics, ensuring compliance with EU standards for educational and professional requirements for mental health professionals.
