Educational and methodological department
The Educational and Methodological Department (EMD) is a structural unit of the university whose main task is to coordinate the work of all educational units in planning and organizing the educational process at the level of modern requirements, summarizing and analyzing the state of the educational process at the university, developing areas for its improvement and implementing them in the learning process.
The NME organizes its work in the following areas:
- planning and organization of the educational process;
- educational and methodological work;
- student internships;
- licensing and accreditation;
- postgraduate education.
The main functions of the NMB are:
In planning and organizing the educational process
- coordination of the work of all educational units in planning, organizing, and providing logistical support for the educational process at the level of modern requirements;
- summarizing the calculations of the academic workload of the departments; preparing proposals for the staffing of the faculty for the next academic year based on it;
- coordination of the work of educational departments in drawing up schedules of classes, sessions, schedules of meetings of state examination commissions and the use of classroom facilities;
- accounting and analysis of student movement, academic performance, and final certification results.
In educational and methodological work
- coordination of the methodological work of the departments, assistance in the implementation of innovative teaching methods, measures to modernize the educational process in the context of European requirements and the effective use of technical means of education;
- analyzing the state of the faculties’ educational and methodological work, preparing materials and proposals for consideration at meetings of the educational and methodological commission and assisting in the implementation of the commission’s decisions;
- studying and summarizing the methodological experience of the departments and other educational structures of the university, making proposals to improve its quality and effectiveness;
- assistance in the preparation of methodological documentation – working thematic plans, conditions for determining the rating in academic disciplines, etc;
- analyzing the state of provision of students and teachers with educational and methodological literature;
- studying, generalizing and implementing new technologies and current experience in organizing higher education.
In the practice of students
- Coordination of the organization and conduct of all types of student internships, development and drafting of instructional materials and university regulations on the organization of their conduct;
- drawing up a university-wide schedule for all types of internships;
- operational control over the execution of orders and instructions on the organization and conduct of various types of practices;
- analyzing reports of the heads of examination commissions and developing measures to improve the practical training of specialists.
In licensing and accreditation
- Preparation of documents required for accreditation and licensing;
- participation in the work on opening new specialties;
- analysis of curricula for licensing and accreditation;
- interaction with the Department of Licensing and Accreditation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
In postgraduate education
- determines, together with the university’s structural units, the main needs and areas of professional development of the relevant categories of employees;
- coordinates, controls and summarizes information on the process of professional development of university employees;
- timely preparation of reports and development of a schedule for professional development of pedagogical and scientific and pedagogical staff of the university;
- develops organizational and administrative documents for organizing, planning, and coordinating the process of professional development at the university.
