Speech by Dr. Gelena Lazos, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, USFU

On May 30, 2024, Dr. Gelena Lazos, Dean of the Sigmund Freud Faculty of Psychology at the University of Ukraine, spoke at the next ECNP Traumatic Stress Network event from the U-Rise project, where she, together with Prof. George Bonanno from the University of Columbia, she presented her observations on the issues that are unfolding in clinical work with patients during Russia’s war against Ukraine. The topic was focused on the combination of trauma, resilience, and current challenges and opportunities for self-regulation of mental states of affected persons.

The mission of the Ukraine Sigmund Freud University is to shape a new generation of psychologists and psychotherapists and contribute to the restoration of the mental health of the Ukrainian nation. Ukraine Sigmund Freud University will not only provide its students with professional skills but also foster a modern worldview, teach them to analyze contemporary challenges, and develop a vision for the sustainable development of individuals, society, and the state.
