Seminar “Ukrainian national memory and collective trauma: impact on the individual”
On December 15, 2023, Ukraine Sigmund Freud University hosted a seminar on an extremely important and relevant topic for today – “Ukrainian National Memory and Collective Trauma: Impact on the Personality”.
The lecturers, Tetiana Shvydchenko, PhD in History, Head and Associate Professor of the Department of General Education at the USFU, and Serhii Yakushyk, MA in History, MA in Psychology, psychoanalyst, applied an interdisciplinary approach, combining history, psychology and psychoanalysis in psychological practice.
In 4 hours, the seminar participants learned about:
- the mechanism of transmission of transgenerational and collective traumas and their consequences;
- tools for recognizing collective/transgenerational trauma from individual trauma;
- tools for working in individual practice and a broader understanding of group dynamics in group therapy;
At the end of the seminar, all participants, both those who were present in the audience and those who participated online, had the opportunity to ask questions and share their thoughts on what they had heard.
The seminar participants also received certificates from Ukraine Sigmund Freud University.
