Seminar “Phenomenology for psychotherapists”

On January 27, 2024, the seminar “Phenomenology for Psychotherapists” was held at Ukraine Sigmund Freud University

The seminar was attended not only by psychologists, but also by everyone interested in modern psychology.

The lecturer, Yegor Butsikin, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of General Education at the USFU, psychoanalyst and translator, introduced the students to the central themes of phenomenological psychology, as well as to phenomenological procedures that allow describing and distinguishing different types of human experiences in order to better understand the client.

We talked about:

  • the difference between a phenomenon and a phenomenon;
  • phenomenon as a subject of phenomenological research;
  • procedures (phenomenological reductions) for identifying and describing phenomena;
  • Phenomenological descriptions of existential facts: corporeality, spatiality, temporality, sociality, language;
  • application of phenomenology to describe psychological phenomena: shame, procrastination, alienation, the creepy, love, etc.

More than 30 participants joined the seminar, both in person and online, and received certificates of advanced training from Ukraine Sigmund Freud University.
